This grant will support the Addressing Teen Stress through Community Action program at the San Gabriel Branch of the Los Angeles County Library. Under that program, branch librarians are collaborating with mental health outreach initiatives at Gabrielino High School and Del Mar High School. The branch will use the grant money to purchase, circulate and expand its collection of books and other media addressing the impact and management of teenage stress, anxiety, fatigue, sleep deprivation and depression. Friends of the San Gabriel Library is a local nonprofit that encourages literacy and love of learning programs at the San Gabriel branch of the Los Angeles County Library System.
Quality of life
Said Harry Baldwin, Chairman of the San Gabriel Community Foundation: “We are pleased each year to support both basic and innovative programs that encourage healthy lifestyles in the communities of the San Gabriel Valley. These three community-based nonprofits stand out in the uniqueness of their vital missions, share a long tradition of helping those in most need in our area, and are always thinking ahead for what would be most impactful for the greatest number of our neighbors – children, teens, adults and seniors alike – who depend upon them.”
