Cristina Alvarado


Cristina Alvarado has lived in San Gabriel for over 30 years.  In her community involvement, she is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the San Gabriel Unified School District, where she has served a total of four terms.  In her time on the School Board, she received the Golden Apple Award and recognition from then-Assemblywoman Judy Chu for Cristina’s work in improving the health of our students.

In addition, Cristina is the President of the Board for the San Gabriel Historical Association, which strives to recognize and uphold the rich history of San Gabriel.<p></p>

In her professional career, Cristina has spent her time in the nonprofit world.  She’s currently Executive Director of the Child Care Alliance of Los Angeles.  She’s also been Executive Director or managed programs for Child Care Information Service, the YWCA of Greater Los Angeles, the City of Pasadena, and United Way.  Cristina has worked in the social services field for over 35 years.

Cristina earned a Master’s Degree (MSW) from UCLA, where the Alumni Association recognized her as the 1999 Alumnus of the Year.  She is originally from Costa Rica and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
